Asia Open Data Hackathon was launched in 2015 as an effort to bring the industry,the developer community and the public together in a fun and creative forum, and to ultimately promote and the growth and application of Open Data.

11 May in 2017, MOU between ODA(Taiwan) and VLED(Japan) to relate open data competition and hackathon was concluded and Now launched in Japan! You will be participating in a truly international event, as the hackathon presentation will take place simultaneously across 4 countries:Taiwan,Thailand,Korea and japan. 8 representatives from winning teams will be awarded in Asia Pacific Open Data Summit!

We hold them in 3 cities(Tokyo , Osaka and Toyama) in Japan and you can also join online to create unique application of open data from 4 countries!

Asia Open Data hackathon welcomes anyone who is interested in Open Data.

Theme

The purpose of this Hackathon is to solve mutual problems in Asia.
We will inform about following four themes and problems that we are facing.
And four countries provide data sets for each.

  • Food Safety
  • Government Transparency
  • Weather Application
  • Climate Change

Fortunately, we decided to hold a hackathon in Uozu city in Toyama too!

Works Specifications作成物の国際水準等

  1. Choose one theme and create one workable application that MUST use government open data from your country and mix with other data.
  2. The participants have to make their work (including document, code, data…etc.) open source by following the rules set by OSI (http://opensource.org/licenses), and upload for records.
  3. 3 Taiwanese referees, 3 Thai referees, 3 Japanese referees and 3 Korean referees to select 8 winning teams (2 for each) from 5 Taiwanese Teams, 5 Thai Teams, 5 Japanese Teams and 5 Korean Teams. (Each team has 5 mins for English presentation and demo)
  4. Competitors are not permitted to submit the work that has been awarded any prize in any country.
